The Ampleforth kitchen is a marriage of styles and material palettes combined together to create a more present day country style kitchen. Working alongside stunning period features the Ampleforth kitchen retains that old world period charm of the traditional rural country kitchen but in a style and finish that has been brought right up to date.

Ampleforth Bespoke Features

The overall look and style of a kitchen is very important and here at Culshaw the same amount of care and attention to detail is given to the interiors of all our cabinets. Details like clever storage, individually tailored inserts and larder shelving all work behind the scenes.
In this kitchen the main issue our designers had to contend with would be the beautiful exposed oak beams and low ceilings. Designing a kitchen that would work without interfering with the beams and not looking squat with such low ceilings is the type of challenge our designers regularly tackle being a bespoke company. By incorporating units at different heights and depths this would ensure the kitchen looked harmonious within its surroundings. Make full use of the overall ceiling heights the varied height in units would create considered and natural breaks working around the exposed beams.

One such feature that was designed around this philosophy was the over mantle. With the restricted height available a more traditional over mantle was not an option. Specially designed mantle brackets ensure sufficient room is left on the worktop. The two wall cabinets that frame the over mantle were also made to a bespoke size. Again due to height restrictions a squatter wall cabinet was needed and would help keep the kitchen looking spacious and balanced.

The use of Pippy oak in two areas gives a more traditional feel to the kitchen whilst giving it a stunning bespoke feature. A larder unit sits to the left of the AGA where as a more freestanding piece houses the integrated fridge and freezer on the opposite wall.
As with all our kitchens the island unit is always truly unique. No two islands are ever the same. The islands will always be tailor made to suit each individual kitchen and the requirements of each client. In the Ampleforth kitchen this huge island houses a double Belfast sink with feature solid oak drip, integrated dishwasher, solid oak wine rack, bespoke doors and drawer’s storage and an open end bookcase.
