Introduction
The Drayton is the latest kitchen designed and produced with a variation on the handleless detail similar to the Taybridge.
This kitchen has an updated style with the overall look being sleek, seamless and understated. The island unit and its walnut drawer fronts add warmth and a striking contrast to the subtle tones and shades of the kitchen. The same walnut detailing was used as a worktop above the built-in solid fuel burner and log store area. A contrasting Silestone worktop on the island unit adds to the material palette.
BESPOKE FEATURES
The hidden details
The overall look and style of a kitchen is very important and here at Culshaw the same amount of care and attention to detail is given to the interiors of all our cabinets. Details like clever storage, individually tailored inserts and larder shelving all work behind the scenes.
The interior of the Drayton was a black walnut matching the bespoke hand veneered walnut drawers and worktop. The walnut veneers were specially selected to create a continuous horizontal grain across the length of the island. The 3 metre walnut work top situated above the stove and log store was also veneered using the same selection and hand veneering technique. This method of veneering and manufacture of the drawer fronts and worktop gives a more stable product needed when in such close proximity to sources of heat.
When you look at the images of the seamless kitchen units you may be forgiven for overlooking the meticulous attention to both ergonometric and spatial design and detail that are behind that sleek exterior. Each interior of the cabinets are specifically designed to suit this particular clients individual needs. From specially tailored waste solutions to spatial issues caused by the structural elements of the extension dictating cabinet sizes and shapes, this kitchen has it all.
One of the more unusual bespoke elements in this kitchen is the stove and log store area. Special consideration had to be given to the materials used around the stove due to regulations. The overall look had to match the same clean lines throughout the rest of the kitchen. An open log store gives you crucial space to store the logs but adds a dimension to an area that requires a more homely feel being that it is more of a living space.
The attention to detail did not stop there. A cupboard was specifically designed to house the blinds for the large glazed door window which opened out onto the garden. These blinds would be stored away out of sight until such time when they were needed so as not to interrupt the whole clean and utilitarian look of the interior and kitchen.
